If you’re expecting the kind of endless theorycrafting you see in Diablo or Path of Exile, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced isn’t built that way. Instead of stacking dozens of stats and chasing perfect rolls, the game focuses on simple but surprisingly effective loadouts built around legendary gear.
Every build comes down to three pieces: your melee weapon, firearm, and trinket. Pick the right combination, and Edward can play like a gunslinger, a duelist, a stealth assassin, or a walking explosion.
The best part? Legendary equipment is much easier to obtain than you might expect. Items like the Darkworker’s Pistols and Lightserver’s Blades aren’t nearly as rare as their names suggest. The only real catch is that many top-tier weapons come from Animus Projects, meaning you’ll eventually need to spend time completing Anomalies and seasonal objectives.
Here are five loadouts that completely change how combat feels.
Active Shooter — Best Pistol Build

If your favorite solution to every encounter is “shoot first,” this setup delivers exactly that. Between extra pistol shots, ricochets, and bonus damage, entire groups disappear before they even reach you.
| Slot | Item |
|---|---|
| Weapon | Le Bourgeyos Blades or Order of Gold |
| Firearm | Dark Animus Corsair Flintlocks |
| Trinket | Wooden Eyeball |
Choosing between the two melee weapons mostly comes down to preference.
Le Bourgeyos Blades automatically fire an additional pistol shot whenever you use a Heavy Strike, making the combo extremely easy to trigger.
Order of Gold takes a flashier route, firing after every Perfect Dodge instead. It requires better timing but feels far more stylish once you master it.
The real star, however, is the Dark Animus Corsair Flintlocks. Their bullets ricochet into a second target, whether that’s another enemy or even an explosive barrel sitting nearby.
Pair them with the Wooden Eyeball, which lets a single pistol shot kill Brutes outright, and the ricochet effect suddenly means one trigger pull can eliminate two heavily armored enemies at once.
Ninja Pirate — Best Stealth Build

Modern Assassin’s Creed games may have shifted away from pure stealth, but that doesn’t mean you can’t lean back into the assassin fantasy.
Even if this isn’t the strongest approach in Black Flag Resynced, it’s easily the most thematic.
| Slot | Item |
|---|---|
| Weapon | Naoe’s Shadowblade |
| Firearm | Darkworker’s Pistols or Peaceful Means |
| Trinket | Fortunate Circle Charm |
You’ll need to unlock Naoe’s Shadowblade through the Animus Exchange. Besides fitting the ninja fantasy perfectly, it also increases the timing window for both Perfect Parries and Perfect Dodges, making evasive combat much more forgiving.
For firearms, you have two options.
Darkworker’s Pistols don’t consume ammunition while you’re anonymous, making them excellent for opening a fight. The downside is obvious—once you fire, everyone immediately knows where you are.
Alternatively, there’s Peaceful Means, a pistol designed to produce quieter shots. I haven’t personally tested whether it’s quiet enough to stay hidden after firing, so its stealth value is still something of a mystery.
Finally, the Fortunate Circle Charm rounds out the build nicely by granting temporary damage immunity after performing a Perfect Dodge.
Inigo Montoya — Best Parry Build

If you enjoy winning fights by punishing enemy mistakes instead of rushing them down, this loadout is hard to beat.
Almost every incoming melee attack becomes an opportunity to strike back.
| Slot | Item |
|---|---|
| Weapon | Ezio’s Swords |
| Firearm | Golden Flintlock Pistols |
| Trinket | Lock of Hair |
Like Naoe’s weapon, Ezio’s Swords are exclusive to the Animus Exchange.
They’re widely considered among the strongest swords in the game because they let you parry attacks that are normally marked as unblockable. Bullets remain the only exception.
The Golden Flintlock Pistols activate a brief slow-motion effect after killing an enemy. If landing consistent headshots proves difficult, upgrading the pistols makes the mechanic much easier to trigger.
To keep the momentum going, equip the Lock of Hair, which restores health every time you perform a Perfect Parry.
Cloud of Knives — Best AoE Build
If your ideal fight ends with explosions, burning enemies, and collateral damage everywhere, this is the loadout to build.
It’s messy.
It’s expensive.
And it’s ridiculously entertaining.
| Slot | Item |
|---|---|
| Weapon | Dark Animus Corsair Pistol Swords |
| Firearm | Gargoyle’s Breath |
| Trinket | Demon-forged Pendant |
The Dark Animus Corsair Pistol Swords damage nearby enemies whenever you score a kill, letting melee eliminations chain into additional crowd damage.
Meanwhile, Gargoyle’s Breath fires explosive ammunition capable of clearing groups in seconds.
There’s one drawback: every shot costs 100 reales, so it’s surprisingly easy to spend a fortune if you get trigger-happy.
The Demon-forged Pendant isn’t required for the build to function, but it fits perfectly by setting enemies on fire after they’re hit with a Berserk Dart, adding even more chaos to every encounter.
Black & Blue — Highest Damage Build

Low-health builds usually feel stressful.
This one doesn’t.
Thanks to the right trinket, you can safely sit near death while turning Edward into an absolute melee monster.
| Slot | Item |
|---|---|
| Weapon | Dual Cleavers |
| Firearm | Any pistol |
| Trinket | Templar Cross |
The firearm barely matters here, so use whichever pistol you prefer. A weapon that restores health after kills can be a nice complement, but the focus is entirely on melee combat.
Dual Cleavers increase your damage as your health drops, encouraging an aggressive, high-risk playstyle.
Normally that would leave you one mistake away from dying.
The Templar Cross changes that equation by allowing you to absorb much more punishment, making it far easier to stay in the weapon’s damage sweet spot without immediately getting knocked out.
It takes a little setup before the damage really kicks in, but once it does, few builds hit harder.
How to Unlock the Best Legendary Weapons
Many of the strongest loadouts rely on equipment earned through Animus Projects, so you’ll eventually need to participate if you want the best gear.
The smartest approach is simple: complete Animus Anomalies whenever you encounter them. Waiting until later means grinding a large number of objectives all at once.
Some of the legendary rewards include:
- Altair’s Swords
- Ezio’s Swords
- Naoe’s Shadowblade
- Dark Animus Corsair Flintlocks
- Dark Animus Corsair Pistol Swords
Animus Projects currently function much like free battle passes, and future updates will likely expand them with additional legendary equipment.
How to Claim Animus Exchange Weapons

Once you’ve earned enough currency, claiming legendary gear only takes a minute.
- Open the main menu.
- Hold the Create button on PS5 or the View button on Xbox.
- Open the Projects menu.
- Press R1/RB twice to reach the Exchange tab.
- Purchase the legendary weapon you want.
The three legendary swords each cost 3,000 Animus Keys.
You earn Animus Keys by completing battle pass objectives and finishing anomalies. Standard activities award 30 Keys, while larger milestones typically grant anywhere between 200 and 500 Keys, making the grind much more manageable than it first appears.
The Dark Animus weapon set follows a different unlock path. Instead of Animus Keys, these weapons require Data Fragments, which effectively serve as the battle pass XP earned by progressing through Animus Projects.
